The following information is to assist you in planning your baggage requirements when you travel with Moldavian Airlines

CHECKED BAGGAGE

General
Checked baggage is baggage

  • Of which Moldavian Airlines takes custody, and
  • For which Moldavian Airlines issues a baggage check (included in the ticket) and one baggage identification tag per piece of baggage.
Checked baggage normally is foreseen to be carried in the hold of the aircraft the passenger is travelling on.

Acceptance Rules
Moldavian Airlines may refuse to carry checked baggage and gate delivery items which are:

  • Likely to endanger the aircraft, persons or property.
  • Likely to be damaged by air carriage.
  • Unsuitably packed.
  • Forbidden by any applicable laws, regulations or orders of any State to be carried from, into or over.
  • Unsuitable for air carriage due to its weight, size or nature.
All checked baggage must be properly packed in sufficiently rigid suitcases or similar containers to ensure safe carriage.
Every piece of baggage must show the passenger's name and address.
Every piece of baggage must show the passenger's name and address. Because of their weight, size or nature, certain items are only accepted with prior consent of the carrier at time of booking (see below, Restrictions on Acceptance).
NOTE: In case of code-share flights, operated by another carrier, the rules might be different from the ones described in this chapter.

Checked baggage may not contain the following items:

  • Fragile items.
  • Valuable items.
  • Perishable items.
  • Dangerous goods.
The following items should be carried as cabin or carry-on baggage:
  • Travel documents, medical certificates
  • Business documents
  • Portable PCs and other electronic equipment
  • Musical instruments, pictures, etc.
  • Money, jewelry, negotiable papers
  • Medicines

Restrictions on Acceptance
Due to quantity limitations or due to their weight, volume or nature, the following items may be carried as checked baggage only with the prior consent of the carrier(s) at the time of booking:

Other

Certain fares allow for more baggage (e.g. emigrants, passengers with connection for long-haul – transatlantic flights, etc.). e.g. Seamen are allowed max. 30 kg. In such cases, the allowance must be shown in the appropriate box on the ticket at the time of ticket issuance.
In case of exceedance of normal allowances, of the hold baggage, gate delivery items, or other non normal items, during the check in procedure, this information will be mandatory communicated to Load Control department.

Different regulations apply for flights to and from Canada and the USA (children under 2 years age are entitled to 1 piece of baggage not more than 32 kg (70 lbs.) and Any baggage in excess of the above entitlements is subject to excess baggage fees.

In case your personal baggage exceeds the free baggage allowance, Moldavian Airlines will accept it only as: excess baggage

UNCHECKED BAGGAGE

In addition to the free checked baggage allowance you may carry personal items as carry-on baggage, so-called un-checked baggage.

Less carry-on baggage means more comfort and convenience

Definition, Scope
Unchecked baggage is baggage carried in the cabin, under the passenger's personal custody.
Unchecked baggage includes the types of baggage outlined in the table below:

Free carry-on items Items carried free of charge in the passenger cabin and subject to the passenger's own supervision and responsibility
Carry-on baggage Articles in excess of the free carry-on items, also carried free of charge in the passenger cabin and subject to the passenger's own supervision and responsibility.

Such items may only comprise those articles which are suitable for carriage in the passenger cabin, such as:

  • Portfolios
  • Overnight bags
  • Portable PCs
  • Briefcases
  • Similar hand baggage

General Rules

Acceptance
Moldavian Airlines may refuse to carry unchecked baggage which is:

  • Likely to endanger the aircraft, persons or property.
  • Likely to be damaged by air carriage.
  • Unsuitably packed.
  • Forbidden by any applicable laws, regulations or orders of any state to be carried from, into or over.
  • Unsuitable for air carriage due to its weight, size or nature.
  • Not fitting under the seal or which cannot be stowed in the overhead compartment.
  • Because of its weight, size or nature, certain items are only accepted with the prior consent of the carrier at the time of booking.
  • Items refused by the security check staff must be carried in hold.
Stowing
Unchecked baggage must be stowed on board:
  • In the overhead compartment or
  • Under the seat in front of the passenger.
EXCEPTION: For 'Delivery at Aircraft' baggage.

Free allowances for Unchecked Baggage
Passengers may carry, free of charge, the following items:

  • 1 overcoat, wrap or blanket.
  • 1 umbrella or walking stick.
  • 1 ladies handbag.
  • A reasonable amount of reading material.
  • 1 small camera or binoculars.
All passengers except infants
  • 1 infant's carrying basket or fully collapsible stroller/pushchair (in hold) or car seat (in hold, if applicable).
  • Infant's food for consumption on board.
Infants
  • 1 collapsible wheelchair (in hold).
  • 1 pair of crutches and/or braces or any other prosthetic device.
  • Other medical equipment on which the passenger is fully dependent (e.g. kidney dialysis solution in such quantity as to cover the journey).
Passengers with reduced mobility who depend on such wheelchair / crutches / braces / prosthetic device / medical equipment.
Service animal (seeing-eye or hearing dog). Blind / deaf passengers depending on such animal.

If checked in, these items become part of the checked baggage and do not qualify for free transportation if they cause excess weight of the checked baggage.
EXCEPTIONS:

  • Infant's carrying basket or fully collapsible stroller/pushchair.
  • Wheelchair.
  • Medical equipment is carried in hold, free of charge.

As of 7 November 2007, new carry-on baggage dimensions are imposed in the European Union as follows:

The maximum allowed dimensions are as follows:
European Union: 57 x 45 x 25 cm (for EU, effective 07 May 2007)
Great Britain: 57 x 45 x 25 cm, only 1 bag per passenger + one oversized musical instrument if in its case.
India and Nepal: Only 1 bag per passenger
Canada and United States: no cabin baggage size restrictions.

Delivery at Aircraft Baggage (DAA)

Definition
'Delivery at aircraft' baggage is carry-on baggage, loaded in hold at the time of boarding and returned to the passenger when disembarking, i.e. at the aircraft stairs or at the loading bridge.

  • It is not considered as checked baggage, although carried in hold.
  • If used for carry-on baggage, the weight is part of the carry-on baggage allowance.
Carrier Baggage Liability Please be informed that Moldavian Airlines is not liable for the damage or loss of valuable, fragile or perishable objects, money, jewels, precious metals, business or commercial documents, passports and other identification documents that are placed in the Passenger’s Checked Baggage or Delivery at Aircraft Luggage.
We strongly recommend to the passengers to take the above mentioned goods with them on board of the aircraft and not to put them in the Checked Baggage and / or in Delivery at Aircraft Luggage.

Applicability

  • Applicable for fully collapsible baby strollers, pushchairs and wheelchairs, which are not needed during the flight and are difficult to store in cabin.
  • Applicable for regular carry-on baggage on small aircraft with limited stowage space in the cabin.

Weight Limitation for DAA

The Delivery at Aircraft baggage must be limited to maximum 1piece with maximum weight of 8 kg.

Excess baggage

If you want all baggage to travel with you, the excess baggage charges will apply. The amount is dependent on whether your allowance is based on the piece or the weight allowance. Please contact your local Moldavian Airlines office for details and current rates.

Payment of excess baggage can be made by credit card, cash or Miscellaneous Charges Order (MCO).

If you are planning to travel with excess baggage we suggest you check in at least 20 minutes earlier than the recommended check-in time.

General Information

IDENTIFICATION

Each piece of checked baggage must be labelled with your own name and address. We suggest, you place an additional identification label inside your baggage. To avoid confusion, please remove any labels left from previous journey.

DAMAGE OR DELAY

Once you arrive at your destination, we recommend you check carefully the name on the baggage tag. Many suitcases look the same - please make sure you collect your own. Should your baggage be damaged or has not arrived, please contact the Lost&Found department immediately. Liability may be reduced if baggage was presented for check-in unsuitably packed or after the recommended check-in time. In case you need to make a claim, this will be required in writing and within seven days after arrival. To help us process your claim quickly, please quote the reference number given to you on the report of the Lost&Found department. Please also inform your Insurance Company.
