Dangerous goods

There are certain items that you are not allowed to carry either in your hand baggage or your checked baggage or you may carry them only on certain conditions. These forbidden articles, called dangerous goods, pose a risk to health, safety, property and the environment.
If such forbidden items are discovered in your baggage, Moldavian Airlines will refuse to carry them as such. You can still transport them as air cargo provided all the packing conditions are fulfilled according to the current IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. Please announce us by the time of booking whether you want to transport some of the items listed below or similar articles.

Dangerous goods include items like fireworks, aerosols, medical or clinical thermometers, lithium batteries, bleaches, paints, varnishes, safety matches or lighters, resins, medicinal or toilet articles, alcoholic beverages, heat producing articles, camping stoves etc.

This is a non-exhaustive list of dangerous goods:

Cigarette lighters/matches
Compressed gases – deeply refrigerated, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous such as propane, butane, oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders
Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury, mercury-containing thermometers, barometers and wet cell batteries

Arms and ammunition

You may wish to carry your sporting or hunting weapons or ammunition with you. This is possible as long as you submit to Moldavian Airlines regulations. Weapons or ammunition with explosive or incendiary projectiles may not be carried as checked baggage.

Any arms and ammunition, which are permitted for transportation, must be checked and carried in the hold compartment. Carriage in the cabin is not permitted.

The kinds of arms you may carry with you in your checked baggage are listed below:

Sporting guns, sporting pistols/revolvers and sporting rifles
Hunting rifles
Other small defense arms, such as knives, daggers, stilettos, etc.

Whenever you decide to take such baggage with you, please take the following conditions into consideration:

Prior notification at the time of booking is required. Please contact your travel agent.
Arms must be unloaded (i.e. free of ammunition), suitably packed for carriage and packed separately from ammunition.
Arms must be packed in a strong rigid container made of wood, metal, fiber, polystyrene, etc.

You may take only 5 kg of ammunition per person for your own personal use.

Ammunition must be:

Packed separately from the firearm.
Protected, inside the container, against shock and secured against any movement during flight.
Packed in such a way that it cannot function accidentally.
Packed in aluminum or steel drums or boxes, or wood / fiberboard packaging or other than metal packaging.

Please note that Moldavian Airlines does not provide such containers and you are required to pack your arms and ammunition properly before departure.

In some airports, special security handling fees may apply for the transportation of arms and ammunition.
